John Juanda wins his fifth WSOP Bracelet

Team Full Tilt’s John Juanda won his fifth WSOP bracelet with victory in WSOP Event #16: the $10K 2-7 Lowball World Championship.

The popular poker pro outlasted 124 others to take on Phil Hellmuth heads-up for the $367,170 first prize. Hellmuth was gunning for his 12th WSOP bracelet and held a 3-to-1 chip lead over Juanda after Richard Ashby was eliminated in third place.

The one-on-one battle for the coveted bracelet lasted over three hours as Juanda grinded back the deficit and eventually forced Hellmuth all-in with queen low. Juanda had drawn one and after flipping Jx-6x-3x-2x was just one card from victory. He turned over 8x to complete his jack low and claim his fifth WSOP bracelet.

John’s previous WSOP victories came in Event #34: Limit Triple Draw (2002), Event #21: Limit 7 Card Stud, Event #33 Pot-Limit Omaha (both 2003) and the 2008 WSOP Europe Main Event.
